Asia Cup 2025 to be Contested in T20 Format

The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has announced that the Asia Cup 2025 will be contested in the T20 format, with the tournament set to be played in the lead-up to the 2026 T20 World Cup.

The decision to stage the tournament in the T20 format has been made to provide teams with the opportunity to prepare for the upcoming T20 World Cup, which will be held in India in 2026.

The Asia Cup 2025 will be the 16th edition of the tournament, and the first to be played in the T20 format since 2016.

The tournament is scheduled to be held in September 2025, with the host venue yet to be announced.

The ACC has also confirmed that the Asia Cup 2025 will feature six teams, with the top three teams from the Asia Cup 2023 and the top three teams from the ACC Emerging Teams Cup 2024 qualifying for the tournament.
