Arnett Named Interim Coach at Mississippi State Following Mike Leach's Death

Arnett Has Made His Mark in Two Seasons at Mississippi State

STARKVILLE, Miss. (AP) — Zach Arnett, who just completed his third season as Mississippi State's defensive coordinator, has been named interim coach following the death of Mike Leach. Arnett, who is Hispanic, has made his mark in two seasons at Mississippi State after an extensive stretch under defensive guru Rocky Long at New Mexico.

Arnett, 36, is the lone rookie among the Southeastern Conference's 14 head coaches. He is also the youngest, along with being the first coach of Hispanic descent in league history.
